Finite Element Analysis

Kiefner and Associates, Inc. has the capability to conduct finite element analysis for pipeline systems and associated equipment for thermal, mechanical, dynamic, and other loadings on pipe, vessels, and mechanical equipment. Finite element analysis provides a means of measuring the response of a structure when the structure and/or loadings are too complicated to be solved in a closed form solution. Some examples where finite element analysis can be used are:

  • Determine the stress in a dented pipe.
  • Analyze storage tank to determine stresses and displacements while moving the tank.
  • Determine the transient dynamic response of a pipeline to a surge.
  • Failure analysis to determine the structural response to the loads on the system.
  • Reduce the cost of testing and time to completion by using finite element combined with discriminating experiments.
