In-line inspection, field investigations, and other condition assessments may result in the discovery of flaws, defects, or other abnormal conditions or features, including environmental cracking, pipe mill features, mechanical damage, or corrosion to name a few.  Characterizing such features is a critical step in evaluating the effectiveness of ILI or other condition assessment methods.

Kiefner provides state of the art services that involve thorough examination of all important parts of the pipeline.

We offer the following services for detection and identification of anomalies.

  • Visual examination
  • Magnetic particle inspection of seam (seam weld defects)
  • Phased array ultrasonic testing (cracks)
  • Destructive evaluation such as fractography and microscopic examination
  • SEM examination (corrosion or cracks)

When anomalies have been identified and characterized, appropriate recommendations can be made.

With our state of the art equipment and facilities, our personnel will deliver very high quality failure analysis and welding consultation services.
