Trae J. Miller III, ESQ, PE, P.Eng., CSP, PgMP, PMP
Dr. Miller is the current Chief Engineer and President of Kiefner and Associates, Inc., which he was appointed to in October 2018. Dr. Miller was appointed by the late U.S. President Geo. H.W. Bush to the United States Naval Academy, where he studied damage control, naval tactics, and electrical engineering. He was honorably discharged from the Naval Service and was awarded the National Defense Service medal for Operation Desert Storm. Following his discharge from the Naval Service, he received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University. Subsequently, he graduated with a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Loyola University, New Orleans.
Dr. Miller is a licensed Professional Engineer in Louisiana,
Texas, Iowa, Ohio, New York, Nevada, Colorado, Kentucky, and British Columbia,
Canada. He is also a licensed attorney-at-law in Texas and Louisiana and is an
Office of General Counsel accredited attorney for the United States Department
of Veterans Affairs. He additionally holds
credentials as a Certified Safety Professional, Project Management
Professional, and Program Management Professional.
Dr. Miller’s career has been marked by his leadership in
various executive roles for both operating and services companies. He has
served as Vice President of Technical Services for American Midstream Partners,
LP; Vice President of Midstream for CDI Corporation; Manager of the PMO for the
El Paso Corporation; and was Manager of Pipeline Integrity for TransCanada. His
role as Director of Engineering for Allpax Products, overseeing an ASME
pressure vessel shop, is just one example of his diverse skill set. Dr. Miller’s leadership has been instrumental
in designing, commissioning, and starting up over 37 compressor and pump
facilities and thousands of miles of gas and liquid pipelines in the United
States, Mexico, and Canada.
Dr. Miller’s innovative contributions are evident in his
role as a co-author of United States Provisional Patent 20070258850. Heat
Transfer System for Retorts and Method Therefore. This patent is a
testament to his ability to think outside the box and develop solutions to
complex problems. In 2012, Dr. Miller
co-authored one of the first books on Program Management: Program
Management: A Life Cycle Approach by Auerback Publishers and edited by the
late Ginger Levin, Ph.D. He has been cited in P.E. Magazine, July 2012 “Improving
by Degrees,” by Kaplan-Leiserson and he has served as the Chairman
and Keynote Speaker at the 2015 Annual NGL Recovery
Optimization & Cryoplant Facilities Design Conference, Houston
